The “South Village” extension would bring roughly 235 buildings under Landmarks jurisdiction. On October 27, 2009, Landmarks heard testimony on the proposed designation of the Greenwich Village Historic District Extension II. After more than a year and nine meetings, Landmarks approved final component of St. Vincent’s plan. On July 7, 2009, Landmarks approved Rudin Management’s amended plan for the redevelopment of the St. Vincent’s Hospital complex into a residential development. Rudin Management presented revised plan for residential component. Having approved the design of a new St. Vincent’s hospital on the west side of Seventh Avenue between West 12th and 13th Streets, Landmarks considered an associated residential development for the east side of the avenue. Revised hospital plan approved for St.Vincent’s

St.Vincent’s still faces fight over associated residential development. In a March 10, 2009 public meeting, Landmarks voted to grant approval for a new hospital on Seventh Avenue between 12th and 13th Streets in the Greenwich Village Historic District.
