On June 17, 2024, New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced that the e-scooter program is live in Eastern Queens. The program affects approximately 20 square miles, from Flushing and Auburndale to Rochdale Village and Springfield Gardens.
On June 26, 2024, the City Planning Commission voted to approve the Bronx Metro-North Station Area plan. Four new Metro-North stations will be constructed along the East Bronx in Morris Park, Hunts Point, Co-op City, and Parkchester/Van Nest. The plan complements the construction of these stations by adding more housing, job opportunities, and enhanced public spaces around the Morris Park and Parkchester/Van Nest stations.
On June 6, 2024, the New York City Council passed Int. 908, which amends the City charter to require the advice and consent of the City Council for 21 commissioner appointments. On June 5, 2024, Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced the impending deadline for restaurant owners to apply for the permanent outdoor dining program, “Dining Out NYC.” Restaurants with an existing outdoor dining set-up have until August 3rd to apply to participate in the permanent program or remove their set-ups.
