DOT Opens E-Bike Trade-In Program Applications for Food Delivery Workers

On January 27, 2025, New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced applications New York City’s e-bike trade-in program are now open. The program allows eligible food delivery workers to trade in an uncertified electric bicycle (e-bike) or non-street legal moped for a safer UL-certified e-bike and UL-certified spare battery for free.

DOT Vision Zero Report Shows Large Decline in Traffic Deaths in Lower-Income Neighborhoods with Street Redesign

On January 15, 2025, New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced a new Vision Zero equity report revealing that predominantly lower-income neighborhoods that received street redesigns saw the largest declines in traffic deaths. Vision Zero began in 2014 to improve street safety through data driven initiatives.


Mayor Appoints New City Charter Revision Commission

On December 12, 2024, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced the individuals who have been appointed to review the New York City Charter. The team, referred to as the Charter Revision Commission (CRC), will review the entire New York City charter to ensure New York City’s municipal government addresses the needs of New Yorkers. DOT Celebrates Creation of New Loading Zones

On November 25, 2024, New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced that roughly 500 new loading zones have been installed. This was done to combat bike and bus lanes blocked by vehicle’s being double parked to load and unload shipments, which resulted in unwanted traffic congestion.
