City Opens East River Park Ballfields and Delancey Street Bridge as Next Finished Steps of East Side Coastal Resiliency Project

On September 10, 2024, Mayor Eric Adams and other city officials celebrated the openings of two new ballfields in East River Park and the ADA-accessible Delancey Street Bridge, part of the ongoing East Side Coastal Resiliency Project. The project, which began in 2021, is the City’s $1.45 billion effort to create a 2.4-mile-long flood barrier on the Lower East Side, responding to climate change and more severe coastal storms.


City Marks Third Anniversary of Hurricane Ida with Updates on Flood and Resiliency Infrastructure Upgrades

On September 9, 2024, Mayor Eric Adams celebrated milestones in public infrastructure projects across the five boroughs, including sewer system upgrades and investments. This announcement is timely for the third anniversary of Hurricane Ida which brought the heaviest rainfall in New York City’s recorded history and resulted in thirteen deaths.


Governor Announces $16.5 Million Investment for Decarbonizing NYC Affordable Housing

On August 19, 2024, Governor Kathy Hochul announced the $16.5 million contribution to decarbonize and improve existing affordable housing in New York City through the Resilient and Equitable Decarbonization Initiative for Existing Buildings (REDi: EB) Program. This program is administered New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development in partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). This program is funded through the State’s Clean Energy Fund (CEF).


Council Approves Bronx Metro-North Station Area Plan

On August 15, 2024, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, in collaboration with critical stakeholders celebrated New York City Council’s approval of the Bronx Metro-North Station Area Plan.
