HPD Celebrates Opening of Senior Affordable Housing in Brooklyn

On July 3, 2024, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development and IMPACCT Brooklyn celebrated the grand opening of 811 Lexington Avenue Senior Residences in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. This building replaced the Mars Fudge and Fruit Company building. This $36 million project aims to provide older adults access to affordable housing.


Landmarks Designates 1 Wall Street Building Banking Room

On June 25, 2024, the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted unanimously to designate the 1 Wall Street Banking Room (known as the Red Room) as an interior landmark. The 1 Wall Street Building, located at the intersection of Broadway and Wall Street in the heart of Manhattan’s financial district, was designated an individual New York City landmark in 2001. The Banking Room was built in 1931 by architect Ralph Walker and muralist Hildreth Meière.


City Planning Commission Votes to Approve Nine-Story Mixed-Use Building in Sheepshead Bay

On June 26, 2024, the City Planning Commission voted to approve the 3033 Avenue V Rezoning application. The application enables the construction of a nine-story mixed use development. The project is located in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn and the current site consists of a one-story commercial building with eleven businesses on the north side of Avenue V between Ford and Coyle Streets. The project site is located across the street from the Nostrand Houses. 


City Planning Commission Approves Bronx Metro-North Station Area Plan

On June 26, 2024, the City Planning Commission voted to approve the Bronx Metro-North Station Area plan. Four new Metro-North stations will be constructed along the East Bronx in Morris Park, Hunts Point, Co-op City, and Parkchester/Van Nest. The plan complements the construction of these stations by adding more housing, job opportunities, and enhanced public spaces around the Morris Park and Parkchester/Van Nest stations.
