After decades of advocating, the communities of Rosedale, Brookville, Laurelton, and Springfield Gardens in Queens celebrated the topping off on their newly-established police precinct. On August 22, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams joined the NYPD, NYC Department of Design and Construction, and local elected officials to celebrate the installation of the last steel beam, known as the topping off ceremony, for the new 116th Precinct in southeast Queens.

Litigation challenges to redistricting maps resulted in the need for a second primary. On August 23, 2022, there will be primary elections in New York for the U.S House of Representatives and New York State Senate. Early voting is open and will run through Sunday, August 21st. Absentee votes must be turned in by August 23rd.

City’s Rainfall Plan to Help New Yorkers Prepare for Severe Weather
On July 7, 2022, NYC Mayor Eric Adams, along with New York City Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Rohit T. Aggarwala, and New York City Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol, released the Rainfall Ready NYC action plan.
