City Celebrates Opening of Far Rockaway Library

On July 30, 2024, Queens Public Library President and CEO Dennis M. Walcott, Representative Gregory W. Meeks, and other critical stakeholders celebrated the grand opening of the new Far Rockaway Library. The new library is located at the intersection of Central and Mott Avenues. This project was designed by architectural firm Snohetta. This project cost $39 million to be designed and constructed.


City Announces Start of Rosedale Infrastructure Improvement Project

On July 31, 2024, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT), and the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) announced the commencement of a $51.8 million infrastructure program in Rosedale, Queens. City Agrees to $500 Million Investment to Build and Preserve Affordable Housing

On July 22, 2024, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and New York City Comptroller Brad Lander announced a $500 million agreement between Mayor Adams, The Battery Park City Authority (BPCA), and Comptroller Lander. The $500 million agreement involves BPCA providing $500 million in excess operating funds to New York City’s Affordable Housing Accelerator Fund to provide New Yorkers improved access to housing by building more affordable housing.


City Sues Building Owners for Failure to Fix Facades and Take Down Sidewalk Sheds in Clinton

On July 22, 2024, the New York City Department of Buildings and the New York City Law Department commenced a lawsuit against Windermere Properties LLC, Windermere Holdings LLC, and Mark Tress. The city alleges these property owners of the buildings in the Clinton area of Manhattan (400, 402, 404, 406 West 57th Street and 869 9th Avenue) have neglected their buildings since they were purchased in 2009 by treating the sidewalk sheds as additions to … <Read More>
