Longest Standing Sidewalk Shed Around City-Owned Building Finally Taken Down

On August 28, 2024, the New York City Department of Buildings announced the oldest permitted sidewalk shed at a City-owned building is being disassembled. The 329-linear-foot shed was in front of the Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) at 520 First Avenue in Kips Bay for over 15 years. The shed is being removed after unsafe facade conditions were finally resolved.


City Planning Commission Holds Hearing for City of Yes for Housing Opportunity Zoning Text Amendment

On July 10, 2024, the City Planning Commission held a public hearing for the City of Yes for Housing Opportunity zoning text amendment. The text amendment is the third and final City of Yes amendment proposed by the Adams administration to address outdated provisions within the zoning code that hinder the growth of housing, the economy, and the use of green infrastructure and technology in New York City. 




City Planning Commission Approves Bronx Metro-North Station Area Plan

On June 26, 2024, the City Planning Commission voted to approve the Bronx Metro-North Station Area plan. Four new Metro-North stations will be constructed along the East Bronx in Morris Park, Hunts Point, Co-op City, and Parkchester/Van Nest. The plan complements the construction of these stations by adding more housing, job opportunities, and enhanced public spaces around the Morris Park and Parkchester/Van Nest stations.
