EDC Announces Public-Private Partnership to Build Film Studio Campus at Pier 94
On August 29, 2023, the New York City Economic Development Corporation announced a public-private partnership with Vornado Realty Trust, Hudson Pacific Properties, and Blackstone to build a studio campus at Pier 94 near Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan. The Sunset Pier 94 Studios project will create a film and production studio as well as public amenities for Hudson River Park.
HPD Announces New Affordable Senior Housing in Crown Heights
On June 22, 2023, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) announced plans to develop 200 affordable senior homes in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The project, called Weeksvillage, will be developed by CAMBA Housing Ventures (CHV) on underutilized NYCHA land within the Kingsborough Houses campus.
Comptroller’s Report Finds NYCHA Miscalculated Rent at Red Hook Houses
NYCHA miscalculated rent increases for one in five tenants at Red Hook Houses, overcharging some and undercharging others. On June 7, 2023, City Comptroller Brad Lander announced that the New York City Housing Authority (The Authority, or NYCHA) miscalculated sampled rent adjustments at the Red Hook East and Red Hook West developments in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn.
East Flatbush Library Reopens After $11.2 Million Renovation
On June 6, Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) and the NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) celebrated the re-opening of East Flatbush Library in Brooklyn. The library, which had recently undergone a comprehensive renovation, is located at 9612 Church Avenue and considered a staple of the Remsen Village neighborhood.
