On November 7, 2023, New Yorkers will vote in the next general election. This year, the entire City Council is up for reelection. New Yorkers will also vote for the District Attorney in the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island and Civil Court positions and ballot proposals.
On October 13, 2023, the Department of Transportation announced the city’s e-scooter sharing program would expand to eastern Queens in 2024. The expansion follows the growth of the e-scooter program in the East Bronx, where over 2.9 million trips have been taken since the pilot program launched in August 2021.

Last year, “Trick or Streets” restricted car access on nearly 100 streets on Halloween night to provide more open space for pedestrian access when many families would be out for trick or treating.
On September 8, 2-23, the Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Department of Design and Construction (DDC) celebrated the completion of the fourth phase of their multi-phase project to reconstruct the Grand Concourse in the Bronx.
On September 26, 2023, Mayor Eric Adams and Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service awarded $15 million to the City to plant and maintain the City’s trees.
On September 7, 2023 the Department of City Planning released an interactive map showing Community and City Council districts overlap after the 2023 redistricting. This data allows communities to access information about who now represents them after the redistricting this year. The map also shows the proportions of changes to districts following the redistricting. This is the first time that communities can access data in an interactive map format.
