The New York City Campaign Finance Law

The session will be broken up into two 50 minute parts and will examine in detail the current New York City Campaign Finance Law and Regulations as well as the practical experience of campaigns from the points of view of both the staff and practitioners. The Campaign Finance Board (CFB) Chair, Executive director and staff will present the legal and practical framework of the City’s small donation, matching funds system. Practitioners before the CFB will discuss their experience and offer advice for representing clients before the CFB.

The New York State Law on Campaign Finance

The session will examine New York State law regarding campaign finance, its significant deficiencies and the prospects for reform. Election lawyers and advocates will consider the best models for the creation of a system of public financing for the state and will offer up-to-the minute analyses of the current efforts to enact State Public Financing law, as well as other proposed changes in campaign finance law.
