On Friday, October 31, 2014, the Center for New York City Law at New York Law School hosted a City Law Breakfast featuring Robert Linn, Commissioner of the Office of Labor Relations, as the guest speaker. The special sponsor for this CityLaw Breakfast was Proskauer Rose LLP.
Commissioner Linn was introduced by Ross Sandler, Professor of Law and Director of the Center for New York City Law. Commissioner Linn spoke at length about reaching settlements with the hundreds of thousands of municipal workers who had no contracts at the end of the Bloomberg Administration. Commissioner Linn emphasized the collaborative nature of bargaining with the various unions, rejecting the idea that municipal worker negotiations were a “one-off” situation, but instead a continuous conversation about the issues and concerns of either side. Commissioner Linn also addressed exploring employee wellness programs and took questions from the capacity audience.
