The votes will be taken at the Commission’s public meeting at 22 Reade Street in Manhattan. On February 3, 2016, the City Planning Commission will be voting on whether to recommend approval or denial of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Mandatory Inclusionary Housing and Zoning for Quality and Affordability zoning proposals. City Planning’s vote will be the first taken since the community boards responded negatively at the end of 2015. The vote also comes a month and a half after City Planning’s public hearing held on December 16th.
Should the City Planning Commission approve the affordable housing proposals, they will make their way to the City Council Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises.
“These two proposals could shape development in this city for decades to come, so we plan to take a full and thorough look at the finer points of both plans,” said Subcommittee Chair Donovan Richards, Jr. “I look forward to gaining more insight from the administration, elected officials, residents and developers on how these strategies will affect them, as well as what is in their best interest.”
The Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises will hold public hearings for the MIH and ZQA proposals next week on February 9th and February 10th, respectively.
