Starting Saturday, May 28, 2022, City beaches will be open for swimming for the summer. From May 28th to September 11, 2022, swimming is permitted when lifeguards are on duty from 10 AM to 6 PM, and prohibited when lifeguards are off duty.
The City’s beaches include Orchard Beach in the Bronx, Coney Island and Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn, Rockaway Beach in Queens , and South Beach, Cedar Grove Beach, Wolfe’s Pond Beach and Midland Beach in Staten Island. The beaches combined stretch for about 14 miles. For more information about the beaches, click here.
Prior to visiting a beach, New Yorkers can visit this page or text BEACH to 877-877 to receive updates about openings, closings, and water quality information.
The City’s public pools will reopen for the summer on June 28, 2022. Pool patrons are required to wear face masks to enter the pool facility, use locker rooms, bathrooms, and on the pool deck, but are not to be worn in water.
