Landmarks Designates Joseph Rodman Drake Park and Enslaved People’s Burial Ground
On December 12, 2023, the Landmarks Preservation Commissioner voted to designate the Joseph Rodman Drake Park and Enslaved People’s Burial Ground as a landmark. The park is located on the block with Oak Point Avenue to the north, Drake Park South to the south, Longfellow Avenue to the west and Hunts Point Avenue to the east. Landmarks Awards 2023 Preservation Grants
On October 25, 2023, the Landmarks Preservation Commission announced the seven latest grants from its Historic Preservation Grant Program. These recipients each received between $24,000 and $62,500 for restoration work, including removal of lead paint hazards. Recipients also receive hands-on technical assistance from Landmarks staff throughout the project.
