DDC Announces Opening of New Library Branch on Roosevelt Island
The new site is ADA-compliant and meets LEED Silver Certification standards. On January 25, 2021, NYC Department of Design and Construction (“DDC”) Commissioner Lorraine Grillo announced the opening of a new library on Roosevelt Island. The new library, located at 504 Main Street, is located near its former site. The new 5,200-square-foot library is more than double the size of the former NYPL branch.
DDC and DEP Complete Water Connection to Randall’s and Wards Islands
The newly completed water connection will bring reliable water to the public buildings located on Randall’s and Wards Islands. On January 5, 2021, the Department of Designs and Construction (DDC) and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced the completion of a water connection upgrade to Randall’s and Wards Islands. The DEP funded the project while the DDC managed construction.
$9 Million Invested to Upgrade Morrison Avenue Plaza in the Bronx
The upgrade is scheduled to be completed in winter 2021. On October 30, 2020, the NYC Department of Transportation, NYC Department of Environmental Protection, and the NYC Department of Design and Construction announced the beginning of a $9 million project to expand and beautify Morrison Avenue Plaza located at the southeast corner of Morrison Avenue and Westchester Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood in the Bronx.
