DDC Announces Completion of Sewer, Water Mains and Street Repairs Project in Bayside, Auburndale and Flushing
On February 28, 2023, the New York City Department of Design and Construction, the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Transportation announced the completion of an infrastructure project to rebuild streets and improve water service and drainage across Bayside, Auburndale, and Flushing, Queens.
New Permanent Space for Bronx Children’s Museum Opens
The Bronx was previously the only borough not to have a permanent children’s museum. On November 16, 2022, the Departments of Design and Construction, Parks and Recreation, and Cultural Affairs, elected officials and community members celebrated the opening of the permanent space for the Bronx Children’s Museum. The museum is now located at the Bronx Terminal Market at 725 Exterior Street in Mill Pond Park.
Construction Milestone Reached for New 116th Precinct in Southeast Queens
After decades of advocating, the communities of Rosedale, Brookville, Laurelton, and Springfield Gardens in Queens celebrated the topping off on their newly-established police precinct. On August 22, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams joined the NYPD, NYC Department of Design and Construction, and local elected officials to celebrate the installation of the last steel beam, known as the topping off ceremony, for the new 116th Precinct in southeast Queens.
DDC Bids Farewell to Sixty-Five Summer Interns
High school, undergraduate, and graduate students completed their paid six-week internships with the Department of Design and Construction earlier this month. The Department of Design and Construction held a closing ceremony for their 15 high school and 50 undergraduate and graduate students in mid-August to mark the completion of their internships with the department.
