On March 27, 2024, the Department of Finance released a new application status tool for property owners to check the status of their property tax benefit applications. The lookup tool, at www.nyc.gov/exemptionstatus, will also allow New Yorkers to request more information if their applications are incomplete.
Parks Dept Celebrates Reopening of John J. Carty Park in Bay Ridge
On March 26, 2024, the Parks Department celebrated the reopening of the playground at John J. Carty Park in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, following a $5.4 million renovation. Parks Brooklyn Borough Commissioner Martin Maher, Council Member Justin Brannan, and community members joined to celebrate the renovation.
NYCHA Relaunches Updated Capital Project Tracker
On March 25, 2024, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) launched an updated version of its NYCHA Capital Project & Needs Tracker, an interactive tool to improve transparency about over 950 NYCHA projects. The tracker was originally launched in April 2022.
City Planning Approves Green Fast Track Rule to Expedite Some Environmentally-Friendly Housing Projects
On March 20, 2024, the City Planning Commission voted to approve the Green Fast Track for Housing rule, a new rule to reduce the cost and time to approve certain modest and eco-friendly buildings by exempting them from review under the State Environmental Quality Review or City Environmental Quality Review laws. State law permits city agencies to have the authority to propose new rules that can allow certain projects to undergo a more streamlined process.
